Mia's Meals Falafel Bar
Restaurateur Mia Eylon is bringing two locations of her rising concept Mia's Meals Falafel Bar to South Florida. Eylon, who started the brand in New Jersey during Covid, is planning to open one restaurant in Boca Raton and the other in Surfside.
The first to open will be in Boca Raton in the Aroma Kosher Market at 9200 Glades Rd, Boca Raton, FL 33434. This restaurant will be more takeout and delivery focused and won't feature a dine-in area. Nonetheless, Eylon will be serving signature dishes like their hummus, falafel, rice & lintel balls, fries, pastries, and more. Eylon expects to have this restaurant open in the next 2-3 weeks.
The second restaurant will come to a storefront at: 9545 Harding Ave, Surfside, FL 33154. When this unit is planned to open is unknown. Eylon said that it will have more space and area to sit, eat, and enjoy the wide range of their vegan, kosher, and gluten free dishes. A customer favorite, she said, is the tahini shake. It's made with milk substitutes and should be at the top of the "to-try" list for new guests.
Eylon also said that she wishes to continue expanding the brand in the area. Soon, Mia's Meals Falafel Bar will offer franchising, which you can read more about on their website. Follow their Instagram for more updates.
Pretty Healthy Cafe
A second location of the Pretty Healthy Cafe brand is opening in Miami soon, co-owner Canisha Barnes told FFBW. The second Pretty Healthy Cafe restaurant is planned to open in mid-November, Barnes reported.
This unit will offer many of the same menu items as the first: salads, wraps, and smoothies. However, because this space is bigger, they may also offer fresh squeezed juices and more vegetarian options.
The Vault at Old Town Pompano
FFBW spoke with first time restaurateur Jessica Spill-Chaples about her incoming restaurant, The Vault at Old Town Pompano. Her concept is centered in the history of the building she is occupying. At 61 NE 1st St suite 1, Pompano Beach, FL 33060, Spill-Chaples' restaurant will open in the original Bank of Pompano's building, which was notoriously robbed by the Ashley gang in 1924.
The Vault will utilize the tropes of the roaring 20's speakeasy era, Spill-Chaples said, while still providing a family friendly place to dine. There are several unexpected foods and desserts that originated in the 1920's, like milkshakes, smash burgers, and others. Items like these, along with other American-style foods, will be on the menu, Spill-Chaples said.
The Vault at Old Town Pompano is expected to open in Q1-Q2 of next year, Spill-Chaples said. In the meantime, keep up with them on their website.
Spots Ice Cream, Crepes, and Sauce
A new dessert shop is opening on Pine Island right outside of Cape Coral, co-owner Sarah Crawford told FFBW. Spots Ice Cream, Crepes, and Sauce will feature handmade desserts and crepes, Crawford said. The sauces and toppings, whether they be fruits, fudge, or caramel sauces, will be made in house.
Crawford, who owned an ice cream shop in Homer, Alaska, is bringing her tried and true recipes to this new dessert unit.
Spots Ice Cream, Crepes, and Sauce is planned to open on November 1st, Crawford said. She admitted that this is an optamistic goal, but thinks she can achieve it. Find them at: 10700 Stringfellow Rd, Bokeelia, FL 33922.
Wok On Wheels
Owner Peter Liew is planning to open a food truck called Wok On Wheels in the near future. Based in the Ellenton area, Peter is planning to serve a range of Asian cuisines, like Chinese and Korean. Expect dishes like hibachi and fried chicken.
When Wok On Wheels will officially open is unclear. Liew is waiting on inspections, and then he will be operational shortly thereafter.
A new food truck is coming to town by way of owner Alexis Montero. Montero had previously opened a truck called CubanMex, but was forced to shut down for a period of time. Now, he is bringing his Cuban and Mexican cuisine food truck back to Bradenton.
Montero has a background in culinary arts, having earned a bachelor's degree in the discipline. The family run food truck will open in a couple of weeks.
Cork + Table
Owner Kate Vinson reported to FFBW that she is preparing to debut her Cork + Table concept in a new Cocoa Beach location. Cork + Table got its start eight years ago as a women's clothing boutique called Ginger, Grapefruit & Rosemary. However, over the course of its life, the business has adapted into a wine shop and kitchen that will likely debut in November.
Before vacating their earlier location on South Orlando Avenue, Cork + Table was known for their boutique wines, cheeses, and charcuterie boards. They also hosted a monthly supper club, for which they would pair wines with catered food from local chefs.
In the new location at 142 N Orlando Ave, Cocoa Beach, FL 32931, Vinson reports that they are installing a full kitchen, where their chef will offer uniquely crafted sandwiches, salads, and other small plates – in addition to the monthly supper club. Their menu will also change every 2-3 weeks, Vinson said. This will allow them to pair new dishes with their constant supply of niche and boutique wines. Vinson will also be expanding their beer offerings with 6 taps.
Cork + Table has established themselves as connoisseurs of unique food and drink. Their business will be careful to offer food and beverages beyond the mainstream products of conglomerate wineries and eateries, Vinson told FFBW.
The hopeful opening date is November 1st, but this is dependent on how construction plays out, Vinson said. Find the brand on Facebook.
Orlando area restaurateur and entrepreneur Bruno Zacchini told FFBW that he is planning a new concept called Dizzy Donuts. The project, which has been in the works for quite some time, has seen delays with permitting.
Initially, Zacchini wanted to open earlier in 2023, but the current estimate is December, in time for the holidays.
Along with made-to-order cake donuts, Dizzy Donuts will feature karaage chicken sandwiches, coffee, tea, and more. The location is: 2413 Edgewater Dr, Orlando, FL 32804.
Restaurateur Bruno Zacchini (who's opening Dizzy Donuts) is opening another outpost of his pizza concept, Pizza Bruno, in the forthcoming Maitland Social. The food hall-style concept can expect to see the pizzeria open early next year.
Pizza Bruno has two other locations as of now, and the Maitland Social unit will mark the third. The Maitland Social, owned and developed by Lamont Garber, plans to also host brands like Foxtail Coffee Co, Wave Sushi, and Thrive Cocktail Bar.

Orlando local pop-up concept Smokemade Meats is preparing to go brick and mortar for the first time, owner Tyler Brunache told FFBW. The restaurant, Brunache said, is under construction at: 1400 S Crystal Lake Dr, Orlando, FL 32806. At this address is the now closed Italian House Pizza & Restaurant.
Brunache said given that they are still building out the business, he's not sure when they will open. We can expect to enjoy Central-Texas style BBQ, where they cut your meat to order and sell it by the pound. They'll have a range of sides and homemade white bread to serve along with the barbecue. Brunache said their most popular dish is the brisket.
As they prepare to open, Smokemade Meats will also offer BBQ classes. On October 7, they will teach brisket & ribs; and on the 21st, they will teach sauce making. Check their website for more info.
A new authentic German dining experience is coming to Orlando by way of owner Daniel Gabor. Owner of the now closed Dan's Bavarian Take-Out, Gabor confirmed with FFBW that his new restaurant is amidst construction.
Schmankerl Stub'n will hopefully open by the end of the year, Gabor said; however, that estimation could change as development continues.
The goal for the restaurant is to provide a thoroughly German dining experience, where the whole concept, menu, and ambiance reflects what would be found while dining out in Germany. Many of the menu items will be improvements of what Gabor offered at his take out restaurant. Also expect the menu to change monthly and to enjoy German beers and European wines.
Soul to Soul BBQ Food Truck
A new soul food and BBQ food truck is preparing to debut in Orlando, owners Erin and Nicholas Jones told FFBW. They currently have their truck and are awaiting to pass inspections before opening for business.
They will serve BBQ ribs, jerk chicken, dirty rice, and other soul food favorites. Soul to Soul BBQ has done catering before, according to their social media. Keep an eye on their Facebook for updates and announcements regarding an official opening date.
Es Mi Isla Kitchen
A new food truck is in the works the Lakeland area, owner Basilio Cruz told FFBW. Es Mi Isla will serve a range of American-style fast foods, like burgers, Philly cheesesteaks, fried chicken fingers, and more.
Cruz told FFBW that he is planning to open quickly after receiving his licensing and permits. Once does, he will alternate between two locations during the week and weekends.
LP Seafood Market & Deli
Owner Tommy Pham reported to FFBW that he is opening a new seafood restaurant and deli. LP Seafood Market & Deli is currently under construction, and Pham is planning to open near the end of the year.
Pham will offer dine-in and takeout. The specifics about their offerings aren't available beyond what is implied in the name of the restaurant. As more details emerge, Pham will keep FFBW informed, he said. Right now, they have completed about 80% of their construction.
