Welcome back to our summary of restaurant and food truck news. This week we've reported on business from local, independent restaurants to multi-unit franchisees of national brands.

Check out the new restaurants and food trucks opening throughout the state.

BROWARD COUNTY

HIŶDE

A new jazz, poetry and R&B lounge is set to open soon in Lauderhill, co-owner Tory Chestnut told FFBW. HIŶDE's concept is centered on being a hideaway for music and art lovers who want to relax, enjoy a drink and listen to live performances.

HIŶDE will offering a menu of finger foods, beer, wine and wine cocktails. The club will host local musicians, writers, poets and comedians who can perform professionally before the audience. The stage will be surrounded by tables, chairs and sofas that the guests can relax in while they enjoy the shows.

Chestnut said that he and his partner are working on training staff and completing some light remodeling. The hope is to open HIŶDE in mid-April. However, this depends on how quickly the city grants permits and licensing.

Indulge BBQ

A new BBQ trailer is in the works for Sunrise, co-owner Christopher Merritt told FFBW. Indulge BBQ will be attending events and festivals once they are up and running.

Indulge BBQ is coming by way of father and son team, Michael and Christopher Merritt. They plan to serve a menu of jerk pork, ribs, chicken and traditionally barbecued ribs and chicken as well.

Currently, they are waiting for licensing to get approved and will be opening in a month or two.

LEE COUNTY

Banh Mi & Tea

Two new locations of Banh Mi & Tea are in the works for the greater Fort Myers area, owner Kacey Nguyen told FFBW. One of the restaurants is near opening, and Nguyen reported that they began training their staff today.

The first of the two will open at: 10801 Corkscrew Rd, Estero, FL 33928. Nguyen reported that they are nearly finished preparing this restaurant. It will continue the brand's reputation of serving delicious Vietnamese food and boba tea. They expect to host a soft opening soon and a grand opening in mid-March.

The second location will be in the shopping center with Sprouts at: 8595 College Pkwy, Fort Myers, FL 33919. An exact address is not available currently. This location is further out, and Nguyen is hoping to debut in September.

Nabilo's Pizza

A new Napoli-style pizza truck is opening in Cape Coral soon, according to owner Elias Abouatallah. Nabilo's Pizza will serve their pizza baked in a wood fired oven.

Abouatallah reported that they are very near opening. He estimates that they will be serving pizza in the next two weeks.

Once opened, Abouatallah plans to stake out at different events, festivals, condo complexes and the Cape Coral industrial parks. He is working on creating an online presence for the brand currently.

Watch out for Nabilo's Pizza in the coming weeks.

SEMINOLE COUNTY

The Hangry Bison

Another location of The Hangry Bison is in the works for Lake Mary, owner Joe Ligouri told FFBW. This will be the brand's third location, and Ligouri indicated that there are several more in the works.

This location will share the same core menu with the other two restaurants, including items like burgers, wings, salads, steaks and more. In addition, the Lake Mary restaurant will include a private party room for events. This will allow them to have a catering menu with offerings ranging from seafood to different cuts of steak.

This restaurant will also emphasize its bourbon selection. They will have regular tasting events and offer private bookings centered around their bourbon menu.

VOLUSIA COUNTY

Comfort Café

The same team behind the recently opened All Mac Matters eatery in the Eustis Marketplace Food Hall is bringing a new concept to Deland. Comfort Café will be a larger counterpart of All Mac Matters.

Co-owner Jonathan Hunt told FFBW that they will serve some of the staple mac and cheese recipes known at their kiosk in the food hall, but they will also expand the menu to include salads, wraps and rice bowls, maintaining a global fusion focus.

Cajun Jimmy's Seafood Seller & Cafe

A new location for Cajun Jimmy's Seafood Seller & Cafe is coming to Ocala, manager Emily Ingram told FFBW. The new location is underway currently, and they expect to open sometime in April.

Cajun Jimmy's Seafood Seller & Cafe is a staple of the Crystal River seafood and dining community. The restaurant and seafood market is known for their fresh, made to order meals.

The brand is bringing the location to: 2130 E Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL 34470.

PINELLAS COUNTY

Tiki Tim's Pub and Grille

An independent pub and grille is opening in St. Petersburg, co-owner Shani Duvall told FFBW. Her and her husband Timothy (Tiki Tim) Eskridge are planning to bring their concept to the area as soon as possible.

Duvall and Tiki Tim are originally from Delaware, and their menu will reflect the influences of Philadelphia and the eastern shore. Expect Philly steaks, crab cakes, Italian subs, porchetta, wings, fresh cut fries and much more.

Twisted Rolls Chimney Cake

A permanent location for Twisted Rolls Chimney Cake is planned for Temple Terrace, owner Ibrahem Hasan. The dessert concept has been operating in a food trailer and is going brick and mortar in the coming months.

Twisted Rolls Chimney Cake makes delicious rolled cakes combined with ice cream. The desserts come in numerous mouth-watering flavors like Oreo crusted ice cream, Lotus cookie, and more. They also offer smoothies and waffles.

Doodle Noodle Bar

The second location of Doodle Noodle Bar is coming to Tampa soon, owner Viyareth Vongprachanh told FFBW. The new restaurant will be around the same size, but it will have a few new features.

Doodle Noodle Bar opened in Westchase in February 2023. Since opening, they've made a name for themselves by offering a range of Vietnamese pho, boba and desserts. Their 2D decor has also helped them form a memorable brand.

PASCO COUNTY

Rudraksh Indian Cuisine

A new upscale and full-service Indian restaurant is opening in Wesley Chapel, co-owner Amit Ghorpade told FFBW. Rudraksh Indian Cuisine will be Ghorpade's second restaurant in the greater Tampa-area.

Also an owner of Rasoi Indian Cuisine in Ybor City, Ghorpade shared how the new restaurant will differentiate itself. Rudraksh will have an expanded, upscale menu, Rudraksh said. The restaurant will be full-service and will offer a full bar to its guests.

They are waiting to get their permits to build at: 4424 Friendly Wy #115, Wesley Chapel, FL 33543. This is a new construction. Ghorpade is hoping to open by April or May, depending on how quickly the buildout takes.

HERNANDO COUNTY

VN Pho

An new Vietnamese pho restaurant is opening in Spring Hill soon, co-owner Trung Le shared with FFBW.

VN Pho will serve the beef and chicken pho, along with Vietnamese style coffee and boba teas. The restaurant, Le said, is nearly complete and will be opening very soon. He is waiting on final licensing to be granted before opening the doors.

ST. JOHN'S COUNTY

Pink Parlor Ice Cream

A new ice cream shop and private event space is opening soon in St. John's. Owner Debra Alessi-Sromovski told FFBW that the Pink Parlor Ice Cream will be opening as soon as early next month.

This independent dessert shop will feature indoor and outdoor seating, along with a private party room for birthday celebrations, gender reveal parties and other celebrations. The room, depending on the packages selected, can be offered with a photo booth, banana split cart, karaoke machine and a party planner.

Additionally, expect menu items like dutch pancakes, waffle bowls and nacho Sundays, which are waffle cone bits with ice cream and toppings.

The plan, Alessi-Sromovski said, is to have a soft opening on March 2nd and a grand opening on March 22nd or 23rd.

DUVAL COUNTY

Bap Bowl Korean Food

A new quick service Korean restaurant is coming to Jacksonville, owner Jason Wu told FFBW. Bap Bowl Korean Food is coming to the area via the owners of a similar Korean food restaurant in Syracuse, New York.

Wu shared that Bap Bowl is waiting on licensing to come through, and that they anticipate opening mid-March. Wu described his concept as being similar to Chipotle, but for Korean food. Guests will be able to order at the counter and select ingredients for bowls, starting with a base of rice or noodles.

Proteins will range from Korean-style chicken, steak, pork and tofu. Additionally, guests can enjoy dishes like Korean Fried Chicken, Korean BBQ and soups. Wu added that they will make all of their sauces in house.

Whataburger

Two new locations of Whataburger are opening soon in Jacksonville. Franchising company Silvercreek Group LLC is bring these restaurants to the area, and they are also behind the new unit that recently opened at 8325 Southside Blvd.

CEO of Silvercreek Group Tanya Gnaim shared with FFBW that they plan to open their next restaurant in early March. Find the location at: 105 Cbl Dr, St. Augustine, FL 32086.

Additionally, another location is planned for 6251 103rd St, Jacksonville, FL 32210 according to paperwork submitted to the state, but an opening date is not available as of now.

Fudtrip the Filipino Kitchen

A new food truck is preparing to open soon in Jacksonville, owner Rostum Cabrillas told FFBW. Fudtrip the Filipino Kitchen will serve, as its name suggests, Filipino food.

Cabrillas shared that the truck is nearly ready to open, and he estimates everything will be finished by next month. Once operating, they will travel around the Jacksonville area to serve lumpia, pancit and other Filipino dishes.

ESCAMBIA COUNTY

Freedom's Found Coffee

A new, purpose-driven cafe is coming to Pensacola soon, owner Ray Herr told FFBW. In addition to serving good coffee to the Pensacola community, Freedom's Found Coffee will operate with a goal of being a place for veterans and law enforcement to congregate, connect, and bond over their mutual experiences.

Herr, who is a 21 year military veteran, is now obtaining his PhD in trauma counseling. The cafe will be operated alongside a non-profit he is forming to provide outreach and counseling for struggling service members. The non-profit will be Christ-centered, Herr said, citing his own experience with trauma and his faith-based journey of healing.

Freedom's Found Coffee will host events and meetings in the evenings after regular operating hours. These will be designed for veterans and service members to come and meet and share about their experiences.

Coffee loving guests, regardless of the profession or walk of life, will be able to come and enjoy the cafe's relaxing ambiance during normal operating hours.

The cafe is early in its inception, and Herr plans to open in three months at: 1765 E 9 Mile Rd, Pensacola, FL 32514.
